Sector V

Leaving Numbuh 2 to repair the shield generator of the tree house, Daniel summoned his vice-captains, the other two captains and two TND lieutenants while the rest prepared to defend the tree house against the Fusion Horde. Blossom joined them as they got in a circle around a crate with a map of Sector V on it.

‘Numbuh 2 told me that he will need two hours to fix the generator. We must buy him that time or else the Fusions will overwhelm us. We must defend Sector V at all four directions.’ Daniel looked up at the two captains: Miranda Hail and Jack Summers. ‘What are the conditions of your teams?’

Miranda shook her head. ‘My team took a beating from those Ultramagno Beetles. Half of my team are injured and including me, there are only four of us.’

‘Michael Dunhop broke his arm.’ Jack replied. ‘The rest of my team is operational but since two of them are medics, there will be only five of us fighting.’

Daniel nodded. ‘It will have to suffice. ‘Captain Summers, your team will defend the East. Captain Hail, you will defend the West. The TND will defend the North and my team will defend the South. Our objectives is to prevent the Fusions from breaking the chains connecting the tree house to the ground so we will be fending them off with closed combat. Anyone who specialized in sniping from a distance are to remain on top of the platform and cover those who will be fighting on the ground.’

Everybody nodded as Daniel turned to Blossom. ‘Blossom, is it possible for you to fly your way out of the siege and get rid of those Ultramagno Beetles while avoiding counter fire from the enemies?’

Blossom nodded. ‘With my laser beam, I can demolish those beetles. Besides, they are the only ones that can fire projectiles so even if I cannot destroy all of them, I can at least draw them away from you.’

‘Just don’t take unnecessary risks.’ Daniel warned before turning to the TND lieutenants: Numbuh 8 and Numbuh 23. ‘Do you guys have any long-range weaponry?’

Both TND operatives nodded. ‘We got the C.L.A.M.M.A.H in the tree house but it’s hasn’t been online for a long time.’

Daniel turned to Linda and Kevin who were standing nearby. ‘Linda, I need you to help the other two medics to take care of the injured. Kevin, get the C.L.A.M.M.A.H online. We can use that on the Ultramagno Beetles and hopefully break the siege.’

‘Yes sir!’ Kevin saluted and followed a TND operative into the tree house.

‘Okey-Dokey!’ Linda smiled and skipped towards the makeshift infirmary.

Daniel stood up. ‘Armed yourself as best as you can. We will be descending from the platform in five minutes. Remember, we’re only holding the fort until Numbuh 2 has the shield generator online so no charging out. Everybody… Battle Station!’

Everybody cried in unison and rushed off to their positions. Daniel led his team to the Southern part of the tree house and surveyed the Fusion horde from the edge of the platform. The Sneaky Spawns, Soulos and Caterplugs were waiting to charge the tree house while the Ultramagno Beetles were organizing themselves.

‘Good, they are not ready yet.’ Daniel said. ‘We can use this chance to attack them. Rachel and I will stay on the platform with our sniper rifles while the rest of you will be down there holding your ground.’ Daniel referred to Andrew, Ray and Fujiko. ‘We cover you all. Just make sure the Fusions don’t break the chains. Andrew, you will be leading the ground defenses.’

‘Oh yeah!’ Andrew said. ‘It’s time we kick some aliens’ butts!’

Daniel checked his watch: three minutes have passed. ‘All right, suit up and be ready to descend in two minutes.’

Andrew grinned and fastened his gauntlet while also pulling out the axe that was strapped behind his back. Ray hefted his steel baseball bat with two hands while Fujiko readied her blade. Daniel and Rachel made sure their sniper rifles were in good conditions and they still have extra laser cartridges. Andrew, Ray and Fujiko fastened ropes to something and let the rest dropped to the base of the tree house. Seeing his team ready, Daniel switched on his earpiece.

‘This is Captain Chen. Are all teams ready for the counter-attack?’ Hearing confirmation from the other sides, Daniel nodded. ‘Beginning descent in 10… 9… 8… 7… 6… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1! Descend!’

Andrew, Ray and Fujiko descended down until they reached the ground and were standing next to the chains that fastened the tree house to the earth. As soon as their feet touched the ground, the Fusions who were standing still saw them and roared: charging with opened maws and outstretched arms. Andrew gave his own battle cry and as soon as the first Fusion came near him, he swung his axe and lopped the Soulo in half and brought it down on a Spawn. Fujiko used her excellent wrist works and sliced multiple Fusions in the fastest time as possible. Ray was whacking any Fusions that came in contact with his baseball bat.

‘Bonk! Strike 1!’ he shouted as he hit a Spawn. ‘Bonk! Strike 2! Bonk! Strike 3 and you are all out! Bonk!’ he cried as he slammed the bat on a Caterplug.

Daniel and Rachel were aiming their sniper rifles at any Fusions who were about to pounce on their teammates and fired with deadly accuracy: hitting their marks on the head. Slowly, the horde’s ranks were thinning.

After shooting a Soulo, Rachel suddenly looked up and nudged Daniel. ‘Captain, there are Fusions shaped like a bomb but they’re ignoring the others and heading straight for the chains!’

Daniel looked at where Rachel as pointing at and sure enough, a bomb like Fusion was bouncing towards the chain: a ghastly grin on its face. ‘Those are Soulo Shells! If they reached the chains, they will blow it up! Shoot them down!’

Rachel nodded and lifted her sniper rifle. She aimed and fired, putting down the Soulo Shell. Daniel spotted another Soulo Shell and fired: also taking it down. Daniel reached for his earpiece.

‘All snipers, there are Soulo Shells approaching the tree house. Under no circumstances are they to reach the chains. Prioritize your shots at them.’

Daniel aimed again and he and Rachel fired their bullets at any Soulo Shells or Fusions that were closed to their teammates. Andrew was in battle frenzy and was attacking Fusions with his axe in his right hand and using his left gauntlet as a shield and a weapon. Ray abandoned his baseball bat and was now fighting with both his lightning sword and plasma pistol while Fujiko was calmly taking out Fusions.

Daniel’s earpiece spoke out. ‘Captain Chen, this is Brie Hellens from Team Jack! We can’t hold on much longer! Captain Summers and one of our teammate are unconscious with Eddie Stone holding the frontline! We need back-up!’

‘Roger that!’ Daniel said. ‘I’m coming there now!’ He cut the call and contacted Andrew. ‘Andrew, I’m going to the East side of the tree house to help out! You and Rachel take control of this area!’

Andrew uppercut a Spawn and tapped his earpiece. ‘Copy that!’

Daniel looked at Rachel who nodded. ‘We will handle it here, Captain. Go!’

Daniel nodded his thanks and rushed to the East. As he ran, he slung his sniper rifle onto his back and pulled out Blue Bolts: the two psi-blades poking out. He reached the Eastern side where a girl, Brie Hellens, and one of her teammates were firing down on the Fusion horde with their sniper rifles. Daniel grabbed one of the ropes fastened to a pole and ran between them: sliding down the rope to the ground. He landed onto his feet and he saw the bodies of Jack Summers and another boy on the ground: both of them still breathing. Protecting them was a large boy with a shaved head and with a muscular built, swinging a giant war hammer. Eddie Stone gave a roar and sent Fusions flying left and right.

After making sure that Jack Summer and the other boy were still alive, Daniel raised Blue Bolts and shot two Soulos who were approaching Eddie. Surprised at seeing two Fusions taken out without him doing anything, Eddie glanced over his shoulders and saw Daniel running next to him: plunging one of his psi-blade into a Caterplug’s head. Eddie smiled with relief.

‘Thank the gods you came! I thought I was a goner with both Jack and Samuel out cold.’

‘Thank me later!’ Daniel shouted back as he shot a Spawn in the head and slashed off a Soulo’s head. ‘We need to hold on as long as possible!’

Eddie grinned. ‘Count on me!’

Daniel shot multiple shots at incoming Fusions as he pressed a button on his earpiece. ‘Blossom, Captain Summers and Samuel Bon are down but still alive! I need you at the East side!’

‘Copy that!’ Blossom replied. ‘Will be there asap! Just hang in there!’

Daniel and Eddie continued holding the Fusion horde: Eddie smashing Fusions to the ground and Daniel firing laser bullets and slashing Fusions. Soon, Blossom flew towards them: firing laser beams from her eyes at Fusions who were closed to them. Blossom floated behind Daniel and Eddie who were covering her from any Fusions’ attacks. She lifted Jack and Samuel onto her shoulders.

‘I will take them to the infirmary.’ Blossom said.

‘My thanks!’ Daniel replied and shot down another Spawn. ‘We will hold the lines here!’

As Blossom carried Jack and Samuel to the infirmary, Daniel got another transmission in his earpiece.

‘Captain,’ Kevin’s voice was heard. ‘The C.L.A.M.M.A.H is online with two TND operatives operating on it. Where do you want them to fire?’

Daniel sliced a Sneaky Spawn in half and answered. ‘Concentrate their fire on the Ultramagno Beetles. Their projectiles are weakening our defenses!’

Daniel could hear Kevin shouting the word ‘fire’ and soon, a blast could be heard. Daniel saw a projectile coming from the Northern side of the tree house and blasted three Ultramagno Beetles into oblivion and knocked any Fusions off their feet within the blast radius. Daniel whistled: a shot alone was enough to obliterate a good number of Fusions. He reached for his earpiece.

‘Good job, Kevin!’ Daniel said. ‘With the C.L.A.M.M.A.H online, we may have a chance. Go to the Western side and support Captain Hail’s team.’

‘Yes sir!’ Kevin said through the earpiece.

After ending his call with Kevin, Daniel got another transmission: this time from Numbuh 8.

‘Captain Chen, the Fusions in the North are now in scatters thanks to the C.L.A.M.M.A.H. They’re slowly retreating.’

‘Don’t let your guard down just yet.’ Daniel warned them. ‘They’re maybe regrouping and will be back. Hold your positions until the shield is up.’

‘Yes sir!’

‘Also’, Daniel continued as he fired more laser bullets. ‘Can you spare a sniper to the Eastern side? My team could do with another sniper.’

‘Numbuh 33 is on her way.’

‘Thank you.’ Daniel ended the transmission and continued fighting the Fusion horde with Eddie Stone besides him.

Sector V

Rachel fired and fired again at any Soulo Shells who came near the chains or to any Fusions who posed a threat to any of her teammates. All those time that she and other recruits of the Earth Force spent on target practice paid off as she managed to shoot down as many Fusions as she can. Her brother and Fujiko were brilliant down there: slicing and dicing any Fusions who were within range of their blades.

Andrew, however, was getting out of control with battle lust. He was roaring and yelling at the top of his lungs and swinging his axe and gauntlet around like a madman: not caring whether or not Fujiko or Ray were behind him. Fortunately for them, Andrew was way too deep into the enemy’s lines: almost at the verge of moving forward.

Rachel shook her head at the idiocy of Andrew. Rachel had nothing against Daniel. He was kind, strong-willed, full of strategies, composed and cared for his teammates but now Rachel was starting to questioned Daniel’s wisdom for appointing Andrew as a vice-captain. If Andrew were to lead them, then it will be to their doom. But…

A Caterplug rammed into Andrew, throwing him off his feet and making him land on his back. The Caterplug was about to finish off Andrew when Rachel aimed and shot the Caterplug in the head and the beast gave a moan and fell to its sides. Astounded, Andrew looked up and saw that it was Rachel who saved his life. Rachel smiled at his direction.

Andrew maybe an idiot but he’s brave and loyal. There were times Andrew would show a caring side towards his friends and even though he and she will argue with each other, Rachel was starting to enjoy bickering with the idiot…

Then she felt a presence next to her as dark skinned girl with dreadlocks came to her with a sniper rifle: Numbuh 33. She grinned at Rachel.

‘Your captain sent me. Thought you guys needed some help with dealing with the greenies!’

‘Your help is appreciated.’ Rachel thanked her on behalf of the entire team. ‘Is Captain Chen all right?’

Numbuh 33 shrugged as she shot down a Soulo. ‘He’s fine. He’s handling quite well with Eddie Stone.’

Rachel nodded and concentrated her focus back to the battle.

Sector V

Daniel fired his twin blasters at a swarm of Fusions with rapid shots as Eddie Stone slammed his war hammer onto a Caterplug and sent a Soulo flying. Daniel, Eddie and the rest of the Earth Force and TND have been fighting for a full two hours. Daniel was breathing heavily and Eddie, who still has his full strength, was moving slower than usual. Daniel and Eddie, exhausted, rallied what left of their strength as more Fusions charged towards them.

Then, a blue force field covered the tree house from the top until it reached the ground. The shield repelled any projectiles thrown by the Ultramagno Beetles and any Fusions within the shield were immediately incinerated. The Fusions stopped their attack and a loud cheer came from the defenders. Daniel’s legs gave in to exhaustion and Daniel fell to his right knee, trying to catch his breath. He felt being pulled up by Eddie.

‘You all right, Captain Chen?’

Daniel found his footings and nodded. ‘I’m fine. My thanks.’

Eddie grinned. ‘I never thought we beat those monsters back! What a victory!’

Daniel smiled and patted Eddie on his massive shoulders. ‘Let’s get back up.’

Eddie nodded and slung his hammer while Daniel put Blue Bolts back into their holsters. They grabbed a rope each and tugged it to let Brie and her friend know that they need to be pulled up. Soon, Daniel and Eddie were pulled up back to the platform where they were reunited with their comrades. Daniel was pleased that his team were still in one place and that everybody on the defense force were on their feet. His friends greeted him as he walked towards them.

‘Are you guys all right?’ he asked them.

‘We are.’ Rachel answered. ‘Everybody is accounted for.’

‘We kicked ass!’ Andrew grinned and raised his axe in the air. ‘BOOYAH!’

“BOOYAH!’ everybody cheered along with Andrew. Rachel just shook her head. Soon, Kevin and Linda joined them.

‘Good job on getting the C.L.A.M.M.A.H online, it really saved our butts out there.’ Kevin smiled in thanks. ‘Linda, how are the injured?’

Linda wiped sweat from her brows and smiled. ‘Everybody is sleeping right now. They are going to be A-Okay!’

‘Well done Linda.’ Daniel said and Linda beamed at him as both Numbuh 2 and Blossom approached him.

‘You did it Captain Chen! We beat the Fusions back and the shield generator is up!’

‘The Fusions won’t be attacking us anytime soon.’ Blossom added.

‘But they will be back.’ Daniel said as he looked beyond the shield. The Fusion horde was regrouping again. ‘Once they have enough Ultramagno Beetles, they will try to weaken the shields again and attack the tree house again.’ He turned to Miranda Hail. ‘What is our status report?’

Miranda frowned. ‘Two more of my teammates are wounded and Alia Hazurul is too exhausted to fight. Captain Summers’ three other teammates are still on their feet.’

‘Including me and Blossom’, Numbuh 2 stated. ‘We have five still can fight.’

‘Our team is fully operational, captain.’ Rachel reported.

‘That means we have 16 people on the defense.’ Daniel calculated. ‘And we’re exhausted and low of ammunitions. If the Fusions attack again, we may not stand a chance. We need reinforcement.’

‘Don’t worry about it.’ Numbuh 2 said. ‘I contacted Numbuh 1 and he’s sending reinforcement. They should be here by now.’

‘In the meantime’, Blossom beamed. ‘We still have some soda and nachos to get your energy back. Help yourselves with some.’

Everybody cheered as some of the TND handed out bottles and cans of soda and nachos covered in melted mozzarella cheese. Daniel downed a bottle of soda as his teammates devoured the nachos. Just as their energy returned to their system, one of the TND operative pointed towards the sky.

‘Reinforcement has arrived!’

Everybody looked up and saw ten Earth Force soldiers being carried by Mojo Jojo’s Agent Skyward Monkeys flying towards them. The monkeys gently dropped the reinforcement and flew towards to one of the tree house’s huts to rest. The reinforcement’s leader strode towards Numbuh 2 and Daniel: stopping before them and saluting.

‘Captain Coleman with the rest of Team David!’

‘Welcome, welcome!’ Numbuh 2 said with relief. ‘With you here, we can meet the Fusions’ next attack.’

David nodded and turned to Daniel. ‘Captain Chen, impressive work on defending Sector V. Both the Supreme Commander and Kevin Goodman spoke highly of you.’

David stretched his hand and Daniel clasped hands with him, shaking it. ‘Thank you, and I have heard great things about you, Captain Coleman.’

David smiled and after greeting Miranda, he turned back to business. ‘What’s the situation here?’

‘Not good.’ Daniel admitted. ‘There are sixteen of us still standing, including the medics, and twenty injured. One of them is Captain Summers and he took quite a beating. None of them are in critical dangers but I doubt they can stand up anytime soon. The medics are doing their best to heal the injured.’

‘And with you here’, Blossom joined in. ‘There will be twenty-three to hold Sector V.’

David was frowning and shook his head. ‘The Fusions horde is relentless. No matter how many are defending, Sector V will be overrun sooner or later. We need to strike them now while we have a chance.’

Miranda eyes widened at David’s statement. ‘With our few numbers against them? That will be suicide!’  

‘It is.’ David nodded. ‘But to kill the monster, you must cut off its head. We must find the leader of the horde and destroy it. That way, the horde will scatter and the threat to Sector V will be removed.’

‘That could work.’ Daniel agreed but Blossom shook her head.

‘It’s not as simple as that. When I was distracting the Ultramagno Beetles, I saw no Fusion that resembled a leader or looked any different than the rest of the horde.’

‘Then maybe something is attracting the Fusions to Sector V.’ David suggested.

‘There is one thing that may attract them.’

Everybody turned to Numbuh 2’s declaration. ‘Just South of the tree house is a communication dish that is powered by a nuclear battery fused with Fusion Matter. My guess is that the Fusions are attracted to the Fusion matter and because tree house is closed to it and full of humans, they decided to attack the tree house. Worse, I fear that the Fusions may have tampered with the circuit board which acts as a shield generator to keep Fusions out of Sector V.’

‘Then we just need to replace the communication dish’s power source with an alternative and have the circuit board repaired.’ Daniel stated.

‘Way ahead of you.’ Numbuh 2 said and pulled out package. ‘I just ordered this battery from Dex-Lab for one of my inventions. This should give the communications dish enough juice until the next orders comes in.’

‘Then we moved out immediately.’ David said as Daniel took the battery from Numbuh 2. ‘I will lead my team to the communication dish.’

‘I will come with you.’ Daniel said and turned to Linda. ‘Linda, continue treating the wounded. With you to tend to them, they’re slowly getting up to their feet.’ Linda smiled as Daniel turned to Miranda. ‘Captain Hail, help Numbuh 2 and Blossom in defending Sector V if the Fusions come back again.’

‘Of course.’ Miranda saluted although she looked worried.

‘I’m leaving five of my teammates with you.’ David said. ‘Tw of them are medics but will join you in the fight if the occasion rise.’

Miranda looked relieved. ‘Thank you, Captain Coleman.’

‘Don’t mention it.’ David smiled and turned back to Daniel. ‘When my team were near to the tree house, I noticed that the North of the tree house is deserted of Fusions. We can exit from there and double back to the communication dish.’

Daniel nodded. ‘Let’s go.’

The two captains and their teams descended from the platforms using the ropes that led down to the ground.

Sector V

After nearing to their destination, the two teams were hiding over a hill that look down on the Communication dish and took the opportunity to survey their surroundings. Daniel lowered the binoculars from his eyes and handed it to David.

‘Looks like replacing the batteries and repairing the circuit board isn’t going to be a piece of cake than we thought.’

David looked through the binoculars and when he lowered them, he frowned. ‘I never anticipated the communication dish would be well protected.’

Surrounding the communication dish were Soulos and Caterplugs, just wandering around it aimlessly. Amidst the horde was a giant Caterplug that was way too big for the average Caterplug.

‘A Supercharged Caterplug.’ Daniel recalled the name of the giant Fusion. ‘It won’t be easy taking it down.’

‘Do you have a plan?’ David asked his fellow captain.

Daniel nodded and he, David, Andrew, Rachel and David’s vice captain, Alicia Daniels, got in a circle. Daniel started drawing a rough map in the ground. ‘This is the communication dish.’ He drew a circle to indicate the communication dish. ‘And surrounding it are dozens of Fusions including a Supercharged Caterplug. Charging in won’t work as we’re greatly outnumbered and that giant caterpillar isn’t going to make our job easy. This is what we must do. One team will create a diversion, leading the Fusions away from the Communication dish while the other will repair the Communication dish. My team will distract the Fusions and led it away…’

‘Hold on.’ David interrupted Daniel. ‘In good conscious, I can’t let you and your teammates fight after defending Sector V the entire day. Allow my team to act as distraction while…’

Daniel shook his head. ‘Out of all the members in the Earth Force, you’re the best technician there is. If anybody can repair that Communication dish it is you. Do not worry, we only need to buy you enough time to fix the Communication dish and once you’re done, the Fusions will lose interest in Sector V and us.’

‘But you and your team must be exhausted from the fighting.’ David pointed out and Daniel feared he was right. His legs were still shaking and he knew from the rasped breathing from his teammates that they still have not recover properly. ‘Plus, there are no defensive ground to fight from and with that number of Fusions, they may overwhelmed you before I could even finish repairing the communication dish.’

Before Daniel could argue, Rachel joined in the discussion. ‘May I make a suggestion?’ Daniel nodded and Rachel continued on. ‘I noticed that there is a heavy forested area just east from the Communication dish. The forest is split into a narrow path until the other side. If we can lead the Fusions through the forest and take positions at the exit of that path, then we can control the numbers of Fusions charging out of the path.’

David nodded thoughtfully. ‘That’s a fine idea.’

Daniel smiled. ‘Good thinking, Rachel.’ Rachel smiled at him while Andrew scoffed. ‘We will follow Vice-Captain Randison’s idea: my team will act as diversion while Captain Coleman’s team will repair the Communication dish.’

David nodded. ‘Take two of my teammates with you. They are perfect for closed combat.’

‘My thanks, Captain Coleman…’ Daniel began but David held up his hand.

‘Please, just David would do.’

Daniel smiled. ‘Daniel for me then.’ He gestured for Kevin to come forward. ‘Allow Kevin to accompany you for this mission.’

Kevin looked surprised. ‘Me?’

‘Are you sure?’ David asked.

Daniel nodded. ‘Kevin is quite a technician himself. It was him who got the C.L.A.M.M.A.H online in Sector V. Without him; we will be having a difficult time defending Sector V. I thought he can help you in repairing the communication dish.’

David was looking thoughtful and then smiled. ‘I will accept your offer. I could do with some help and I can’t think of anyone except Kevin Goodman.’

Kevin looked at both Daniel and then to David. ‘It’s an honor, Captain Coleman.’

David smiled while Daniel stated. ‘Let’s get going.’

Everybody nodded and Daniel led his team near to the forest while David and Kevin stayed with two other of David’s teammates. The diversion party reached the edge of the forest and at Daniel’s signal, made themselves in the Fusions’ sights and fired upon them. As some of the Fusions were taken down, the Supercharged Caterplug noticed them and gave a roar. The Soulos and Caterplugs took up their leader’s cry and charged towards Daniel and his party. Still firing, the diversion team slowly backed away.

‘Fall back slowly!’ Daniel ordered as he estimated how far the Fusions were from them. ‘Make sure that we’re in plain sight in the Fusions until we reached the other side of the forest!’

Once the Fusions were almost upon them, the diversion force slowly retreated into the forest and ran through the path that Rachel mentioned. As Daniel looked back, he was pleased that the Fusions were still following them: including the Supercharged Caterplug, which was roaring as it rumbled behind its minions. Daniel was also pleased that the narrow path forced two to three Fusions to come through the path: also slowing down their chase.

‘Go, go, go, go, go!’ Daniel yelled as he continued running with his team.

Daniel mentally made sure that he and his team were in sight less the Fusions would give up the chase and returned back to the communication dish: something that they cannot allow to happen.

‘ Captain!’ Rachel shouted. ‘We’re reaching the other side!’

Daniel and his team had been running for quite some time until they were out of the forest, the sunlight meeting them and the roars of the Fusions still behind them.

‘Stop!’ Daniel shouted and his team stopped and faces the charging Fusions. ‘We hold our ground here! Defend yourselves!’

Daniel readied Blue Bolts while Andrew and Rachel stood besides him: an axe in Andrew’s hand and a lightning rifle in Rachel’s arm. Fujiko unsheathed her sword while Ray raised his plasma pistol. Michael Furrong and Eliza Tenderhall, David’s teammates, readied a claymore and twin pistols respectively. As soon as the first Fusions came out of the forest, those with firearms fired upon them: felling or weakening any Fusions who got shot. Andrew, Fujiko and Michael who were standing by with swords and axe in hands cut down those Fusions who managed to dodge the laser bullets.

Despite taking out as many Fusions as they can, the numbers were gradually growing as more Fusions flowed out of the forest. Daniel and his team had no choice but to back away to avoid contact with the Fusions but with Andrew, Fujiko and Michael fighting at closed range: it was difficult to fight at a distance without shooting their teammates by accident. Daniel pressed the triggers on his blasters and the Psi-blades popped out.

‘Everybody, charged in!’

Leading the attack, Daniel stepped between Andrew and Fujiko and stabbed a Caterplug in the head and shot multiple shots at three Soulos. Ray whacked a Soulo on the head while Eliza pulled out a lightning sword and plunged it into a Caterplug. Rachel fumbled with the lightning sword and charged in: only to be knocked into the ground by a Caterplug. Rachel landed on her back to the ground and froze as the Caterplug was above her. Before the Fusion could bring itself down on Rachel, it was violently struck and flew on its side: dissolving into Fusion matters.

Rachel looked up and was surprised that Andrew was her savior. He grinned and offered his right hand. Rachel took it and Andrew pulled her up onto her feet.

‘Erm…’ Rachel began, adjusting her glasses. ‘Thanks…’

Andrew grinned. ‘Think nothing of it. This is for saving my skin back at that tree house.’

‘So you noticed…’ Rachel murmured and looked around for her sword but Andrew shook his head.

‘Stick to the gun.’ He grinned. ‘You’re quite hopeless with sword like any eggheads.’

Rachel blushed with anger. ‘You’re impossible!’

Andrew laughed and raised his axe and cut down two Soulos that were about to attack him. Rachel’s anger subsided and was still grateful for Andrew’s rescue. Maybe Andrew was not so bad after all.

Rachel unslung her lightning rifle and started firing at Fusions: acting as support and careful not to hit her teammates. Slowly, the Fusions numbers were dwindling and then a roar shook them. They all looked up and besides a few remaining Fusions, the Supercharged Caterplug managed to squeezed out of the forest path and was now bearing down on them.

Daniel aimed his blasters and continued firing. ‘Stand your ground! Hold on until the shields are up!’

Daniel and his friends braced themselves for the attack as the Supercharged Caterplug and whatever remaining Caterplugs and Soulos charged towards them.
Team Daniel and the TND lead the defense of Sector V against the Fusion Horde. It be great if an epic defense happened in the game but sadly it doesn't have that feature. This story combined with two missions: Numbuh 2's Nano mission and Master of Dishaster. Also, I need to bring back the C.L.A.M.M.A.H, that cannon that Numbuh 4 built when he was sector leader :)

I'm trying to built a relationship between two of my OCs, Andrew and Rachel who are in a love & hate relationship.
