"I'm bored!" complained Sora as he stretched on his bed. Kairi sat on top of his bed and pushed his leg playfully.

"You're always bored." she replied back.

They have spent the whole day watching a movie, playing at the beach, shopping, and dilly-dallying at the Cafe. Now there were in Sora's room having spent one hour playing Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero 3; with Sora losing to Kairi.

Sora grinned evilly to himself and threw a pillow at Kairi's head. That made Kairi pissed and nobody does that and gets away from it. She slammed her elbows hard onto Sora's legs. Sora sat up straight, screaming in pain.

"OUCH!" he yelled hugging his legs. "Why did you do that for?"

"Because I'm bored."

Sora glared at her. "You could have thrown a pillow at me."

Kairi just shrugged. Sora moaned and rubbed his sore legs. Out of pity, Kairi grabbed the Pain-Relief ointment from Sora's table and applied it on his legs. Sora grinned at her.

"I was just exaggerating", he said. "But thanks anyway."

Kairi just smiled. "We been to many worlds already. I don't know what else we can do."

Sora just finished rubbing the ointment on his legs when he suddenly exclaimed, "That's it! I've forgotten one more world!"

Sora's exclamation took Kairi by surprise and jumped off the bed. Sora laughed at her reactions. A very unwise move. Kairi punched him in the guts. Sora gasped as he clutched his stomach in pain.

"What was that for you..."

"Mostly, shocked!"

Sora rubbed his stomach and continued, "As I was saying before you nearly make me vomit out that pasta we had for lunch, we can go to the Land of the Dragons."

Now that got Kairi's attention. "The Land of the Dragon? What's it like?"

Sora grinned. "Well", Sora said casually. "They have real dragons, fireworks, and lots of cool stuff! And I can get to see Mushu and Mulan again!"

Kairi frowned. She knew that Mushu was a tiny red dragon who helped Sora in his quest but for this Mulan, it sounded like a girl's name...

When Sora registered her reactions, he assured her, "She is just a friend and she is betrothed already." He jumped off his bed. "I go get the Gummi Ship ready."

He whistled as he strode out of the room. He didn't hear Kairi muttering, "It better be true otherwise I see to it you won't be able to celebrate Father's Day."

                                                         *

"We're here!" Sora cried as he jumped out of the Gummi Ship with Kairi following him.

Kairi looked around her new surrounding and the only word coming from her were 'wow'.

They were in a Bamboo forest where bamboos were at enormous height with its' leaves covering the gaps that reveals the scenery of the countryside. The sky were light blue with white clouds; some clouds have a shape of a dragon or a phoenix. The ground was soggy with mud and there was a giant oval boulder at the corner of the pavilion. A small pathway led down the hill.

"Impressed?" asked Sora as he walked towards Kairi.

Kairi shook her head. '"Impressed' is too mild a word. I rather use the word 'fascinated'."

Sora smiled. "Come, lets go find the village."

Sora took Kairi by the hand and led her down the pathway.

                                                           *

"It's look like they are preparing a festival or something", Kairi observed when they found the village.

"Yeah", Sora said. "I wonder what's the occasion?"

When they reached the village, they were surprised to see the village decorated with red lanterns and red banners. There were red posters with Yellow-color Chinese Characters that neither Sora nor Kairi could understand. Shops and restaurant that were already decorated with red were crowded with customers buying goods or were stuffing themselves with dumplings. Children were running down the streets laughing and carrying red lanterns.

"Well whatever it's", Sora said excitedly. "Why not we have some fun!"

Kairi shook her head but grinned. "Boys..."

"Sora! Is that you?"

Sora and Kairi turned around and Sora smiled and waved in greeting. "Mulan! How's it going?"

A young woman with long black hair that she left untied stopped in front of them and smiled. She was taller than Sora than ten centimeters and she was well muscled like a soldier but she she still have a figure of a woman.

"Great! The emperor just sent me with a squadron to take care of some bandits. So I just came back when I saw you."

"Just like old times", Sora grinned. Then seeing Kairi's scowl for being ignored, he said, "Mulan, this is my girlfriend, Kairi. Kairi, Mulan."

Mulan smiled and hold her hand for Kairi. Kairi took her hand and shook. "Nice to meet you. So where did you and Sora met?"

"When I was enlisting for the army against the Huns and the Heartless", Mulan replied. "That when I met Sora, Donald and Goofy."

"Thats sure brings back good old memories", Sora said. Then he gestured around. "Mulan, can you please explain what is going here?"

"I'm glad both of you came at the right moment", Mulan said delightfully. "We're celebrating the New Year Festival. Every end of the year, we dressed in red and fire fireworks to welcome the new year of health and prosperity."

"Wow", Kairi said. "That sounds exciting."

Mulan grinned. "It sure does. Sora, Kairi, nice meeting you but I've to go. Me and Shang are escorting the Emperor so I've to head back to the palace. Sora, here," Mulan dug into her pouch and pulled out a small leather pouch. "Here is some coins for the two of you. So you can enjoy the festival as much as you want." She turned to leave but stopped and said over her shoulder, "By the way, Yao, Ling and Chien-Po are around the festival. See if you can meet them."

With that, she ran off. Sora who was still holding the money bag just stared at it. Kairi asked, "Who is this Shang that she just mentioned?"

Sora smiled. "Her fiance. Now the both of them are working as guards to the emperor."

Kairi just nodded but was relieved. "So what now?"

"I say we go around and enjoy ourselves. Besides", Sora said joggling the bag of coins in his hands. "Our expenses are paid."

                                                             *
Sora and Kairi had enormous fun at the festival. They played at every games at every stalls and sampled all the dumplings or noodles they can get their hands on. They bought lanterns so they can joined the other children in their fun and games.

"That was fun", Kairi said as she waved goodbye to a group of children when their parents called them.

"I don't see playing with lanterns is fun", Sora grumbled since he accidently burned his lantern.

"It just to show how much you don't appreciate it." Kairi said philologically.

Before Sora could retort, they heard a commotion at the other corner.

"Yeah! Hit him!"

"Give him a knuckle sandwich!"

"It sounds like a fight!" Sora said and ran to the other corner with Kairi followed him. When they reached the other corner, a man flew past them and landed painfully on the ground. A loud cheering erupted for the short and stocky man with a black eye who responsible for that punch.

"It's Yao!" Sora said.

Yao clenched his hands into a fist and stood in fighting position. "All right you yellow bellies curs, who's next? I'll make mincemeat out of you!"

"Hey Yao!" Sora shouted as he waved to his old comrade. Yao turned to the speaker and smiled when he recognized him. He pushed his way through the crowd until he is in front of Sora.

"Sora", he grinned that looked like a grimace to Kairi. "Long time no see!"

"Yeah", Sora said as Yao shook his hand vigorously. "What's going on? Another brawl?"

Yao's grin grew wider. "Why, it's my own fighting tournament to test my muscles. I'm looking for somebody to see who can match me but these weaklings don't know a thing or two about fighting." He cracked his knuckles. "Want to give it a try lad?"

Sora rubbed his right cheek and smiled. "After our first encounter in the army, I don't think I want to feel your 'knuckle sandwich' again."

Yao shrugged. "Oh well. Anyway kid, Ling should be at one of the stalls selling masks for the festival."

"Thanks", Sora said. "Have fun!"

Yao punched one hand in the other palm and grinned. "I will!"

As they continue walking through the stalls, they saw a stall that sell masks of monsters, warriors, dragons and much more. The stall owner was a tall and very slim. He was also friendly as he joked with his customers.

"And how I can help you?" Ling asked a young girl who was browsing through the mask.

"You can help me get a mask of a Chocobo."

Ling turned around at the voice behind him ."Sora", he exclaimed. "You took me for surprise! And who is this lovely lady?"

He indicated at Kairi with a gesture. Knowing Ling's annoying behavior towards girls, Sora hugged Kairi and said, "This is my girlfriend, Kairi."

Kairi glared at Sora for being over-protective but then she was grateful for his hug when Ling, oblivious to Sora's reaction, took Kairi's hand and was about to kiss him. Before his lips can make contact with her hand, Kairi slapped him. Ling staggered back with his hand on his right cheek and his eyes wide with surprise.

"Wow!" he said. "What a slap!"

"Try that again and I will tear you limb from limb." Kairi growled.

Ling initiatively took a step back and shuffled his feet. Sora quickly took Kairi's arm and gave Ling an apologetic smile. "Maybe we should look for Chien-Po. See you Ling!"

Ling looked crestfallen but he suddenly smiled and waved farewell as he was again occupied with another customer. Sora shook his head sadly. "He never learns."

"I hope my slap taught him a lesson", Kairi said grimly.

Sora shook his head again. "I don't think so." Then he beamed. "It's Chien-Po!"

Kairi looked at Sora's indication and stared. In front of her was the biggest and fattest man she had ever saw. He was sitting at one of the tables in a restaurant with all manners of food in front of him. He was bald and his gentle face reminded Kairi of one of the statues in the temples they passed through. As Chien-Po finished drinking a bowl of soup, he noticed Sora and waved at him.

"Sora", Chien-Po said. Chien-Po's soft voice took Kairi by surprise as she was expecting a deeper or booming voice. "Come, come, join me for dinner! Who's your friend?"

"Hey Chien-Po", Sora greeted as he and Kairi took a seat. "This is Kairi."

"It's nice to meet you", Kairi said sincerely. This big man was more nicer than the first two. Sora picked the strangest friends...

"I just love the New Year Festival", Chien-Po said happily. "A lot of things to eat. I've saved a lot of money from Guard's duty for this day."

"So what have you been doing besides eating, Chien-Po?" Sora asked casually.

Chien-Po shrugged his massive shoulders. "Nothing much. Just escorting the Emperor here and there and putting up to Captain Shang's and Mulan's secret moments together."

"Really?" Sora asked too excitedly.

"Are they going to get married?" asked Kairi.

Chien-Po shrugged again. "Just a matter of time."

Suddenly they heard clanging of gongs and heavy drumming followed by explosions of fireworks. Chien-Po said, "The Emperor's Procession has started! You two better hurry up! I'll catch up with you!"

Sora and Kairi to the crowded street just in time to see the parade. There were dancers, Martial artists and acrobats who parading down the street and entertaining the common folks. Best was the group of men who hold the paper dragon with poles and swung it in circles making the dragon chased after a ball that was attached on a pole. Followed by the dragon dance was two lions with papered, horned heads and colorful furs. They stomped behind the dragon as they followed the beat of a group of men playing a drum, a gong, and cymbals.

The people cheered and clapped with enthusiasm as dragons moved dangerously near to the crowd. Children quickly hide behind their parents as the dragon head got to close and laughed as it continue to follow the floating ball. The lions, however, were touched and patted by children as they passed through them. Some daring fellows even pulled the tail of one of the lions.

When the lions passed through our two friends, Kairi touched the lion's back. The fur was soft like a real lion. A woman in the crowd, who noticed Kairi, smiled and said, "If you touch the lion, then you'll get good luck."

Sore widen his eyes when he heard the woman said about good luck. "Really?"

The woman nodded. Sora was about to touch the fur but an evil idea approached in his mind. He pulled the tail instead. The man who was the tail got irritated because he got pulled by brats in every seconds. He delivered a back kick into Sora's gut.

As a laughing Kairi helped a gasping Sora to his feet, the woman shook her head at Sora's stupidity and said, "If you pull the tail, you get bad luck."

"Serve you right", Kairi said with an evil grin as Sora got his breath back.

As Sora scowled, someone cried, "It's the Emperor!"

Now the man with long, white beard who was wearing a yellow color robes and was sitting on a sedan seat carried by four servants beamed as he waved to his subjects. The Emperor was very popular because he was wise and just. Besides the Emperor, there were two warriors that got the crowds' attentions; Captain Shang and Fa Mulan who the Emperor's personal body guards.

When the Emperor passed through Sora and Kairi, the Emperor recognized Sora and winked at him. Sora caught the gesture and smile back. Mulan spotted Sora and Kairi and nudged Shang in the ribs. Shang frowned but when he noticed Sora, he smiled and waved. Sora waved back. Sora and Kairi watched the Emperor parading all around the city before going back to the palace. By the time the parade ended, it was getting late and more there were more fireworks displays as it get darker.

"Shall we head back?" Sora asked Kairi as they walked passed a noodle shop.

Kairi frowned. "What about Mulan? Isn't it rude to go without say farewell to her?"

"I think she's kinda busy at the moment", Sora said as he pointed in one of the alleys. Kairi narrowed her eyes and could make up two figures making out in the darkness. It seems that Mulan and Shang managed to sneak unnoticed into the alley. Kairi giggled and followed Sora.

Despite the darkness, Sora and Kairi managed to find their way back to the Gummi Ship. Before they boarded the ship, Sora smacked himself on the forehead and turned to Kairi, "I almost forgot! Here", Sora pulled out something from his pocket. It was a necklace made from marbled stones and in the middle was a golden phoenix. "I bought this from a  jewelry shop and the shop keeper told me the necklace will bring luck, good health and prosperity to its' wearer."

"Sora", Kairi said as she took the necklace from Sora and gazed admirably at it. "It's beautiful!" She placed the necklace around her neck, touching the golden phoenix before dropping her hand.

"Let me give you a gift of gratitude", Kairi said as she softly kissed Sora on the lips. Sora prolonged the kiss by pulling Kairi nearer to him. The two lovers kissed under the dragon moon.

Happy Chinese New Year to everybody! GONG XI FA CAI!

This is my first time introducing Chinese New Year to all my friends and readers so I'll do the honor! Ahem! Chinese New Year or Spring Festival is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is sometimes called the "Lunar New Year" by English speakers. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first month in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th; this day is called Lantern Festival. Chinese New Year's Eve is known as chú xī. It literally means "Year-pass Eve".
Chinese New Year is the longest and most important festivity in the Lunar Calendar. The origin of Chinese New Year is itself centuries old and gains significance because of several myths and traditions. Ancient Chinese New Year is a reflection on how the people behaved and what they believed in the most.

I've a tough time explaining about the other characters besides Mulan.

Enjoy!

Thank you for the story.

I feel like the Land of Dragons is unappreciated, and it's one of my favourite worlds.
